Walker County ALR Hearing Attorney

DWI Lawyer in Walker County, Texas

An ALR hearing is a crucial part of any Texas DWI charge, and a Walker County DWI defense lawyer will play a key role in helping you secure a positive outcome at this hearing.

Upon arrest, a person who has been pulled over by law enforcement for a Walker County DWI will receive a notice of license suspension from the arresting officer. If the officer does not present you with this document for some reason, you will receive it in the mail from the Department of Public Safety (DPS). This suspension notice gives a driver 15 days to schedule an ALR hearing with the DPS in order to contest his/her driver’s license suspension or revocation. The failure to schedule this hearing will result in the automatic suspension of his/her driving privileges forty days after the date he/she received the suspension notice.

Walker County ALR Hearings in Dodge, New Waverly, Huntsville & Riverside, Texas

ALR stands for Administrative License Revocation. An ALR hearing is held and overseen by the Department of Public Safety, which has the power to suspend or revoke a person’s driving privileges if a driver suspected of DWI:

  • Fails chemical tests (has a blood alcohol concentration of .08% or greater.)
  • Refuses chemical tests (breath or blood tests used to determine blood alcohol levels.)

At your ALR hearing, your Walker County DWI defense attorney will have the task of proving one or more of the following: the officer did not have probable cause to make a DWI arrest, you were not driving the car, you were not notified of the consequences of refusing a breath test or blood test, that you did not actually refuse the test, or that you did not actually fail the chemical test.
